Q: How do I book a lesson for my child?
A: At QuaranTunes, we try to make our services as easy and accessible as possible. You can book your child’s first lesson in these simple steps:
- Click the “Sign Up” button above. You will be redirected to our scheduling system, PickTime. Once you arrive on the page, it will prompt you to select the instrument of your choice. Do so.
Once you have done that, it will offer you to choose one of our many qualified teachers for your child. We would recommend that if you have the time, you check out all of the teachers’ bios because they all specialize in different areas of music and the best teacher for your child may vary depending on what exactly they are looking for. We are also more than happy to consult with you and help you find the perfect teacher for your child! Simply chat us using the chat box and tell us all about your child and we will be with you very shortly to help. (You are also welcome to schedule lessons with multiple teachers of the same instrument to find the one that is the perfect fit).
Next, out of the teacher’ pre-set availability, it will prompt you to select a time slot that works best for you. NOTE: all times displayed on PickTime are in Pacific Standard Time. Meaning that if you come from a different time zone - as many of our students do - please convert the times that you see to what they would be in your time so the lesson time you book works for you!
Once you have done this, it will ask you to fill out a short form, and then your lesson is booked! Your selected teacher will then reach out to you within 24 hours to provide more information about themselves as well as a Zoom link (if you choose to use Zoom).
Q: What platform do our teachers use to conduct their lessons?
A: Generally, our teachers enjoy using Zoom because of its simplicity and ubiquity. However, they are all flexible and are open to using any other platform you may want, such as FaceTime, Skype, and more.
Q: What is your payment policy?
A: We don’t ask for a set fee, but we do ask that at the end of your child’s lesson, if your child enjoyed the lesson, you donate the amount you are comfortable with to our GoFundMe page, which supports the CDC Foundation. Our suggested donation per a 1-hour lesson is $20-40, but really anything that your family can afford is greatly appreciated. All of your donations are tax deductible. If your family is not in a position to donate anything, we completely understand as well! We do not want money to be an obstacle to bringing music into your life. The sign-up form will ask you to type your initials if this is the case for you. This simply means that you will not be receiving reminder emails from us about donations after your child’s lesson.
Q: Can I cancel or reschedule a lesson after it is booked?
A: All of our teachers are extraordinarily talented - as well as busy - high school or college students who are volunteering their valuable time to teach your children. Because of this, we expect that after you book your lesson, you will show up to that lesson on time. To prevent forgetfulness, we highly encourage everyone to calendar their lesson right when it is booked. We allow cancellations/rescheduling as long as it is done at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. If you are late to your lesson, the lesson will still end at the pre-set time because often our teachers have multiple lessons a day and have to switch to another student. In addition, they have many other things on their plate, such as school work, and plan their entire days around these lessons. If you need to cancel or reschedule on a shorter notice, please consider making a donation for the lost lesson time. We thank you for understanding.
Q: Who can attend the masterclasses?
A: Our masterclasses are intended to be a free and open resource for anyone in the world! We do not have a limit on the number of people in a masterclass, so please feel free to tell anybody that you know who would be interested to tune in!
