Our Cause

Living in quarantine with a 10-year-old sister, I (Julia Segal, founder) have seen just how easy it is for children who are cooped up to get restless if they're not constantly occupied or doing something productive. With all the free time we have on our hands now due to COVID-19, this is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill from the comfort of your own home! Our teachers are skilled musicians who are also looking for ways to make the most out of their coronacation. QuaranTunes allows for both the teachers to benefit by gaining more experience working with children, and the children to benefit by getting to work with some super cool musicians on a new music-related skill!

Our Charity

We do not charge a set fee for our lessons. However, we are asking that after your lesson, you and your child determine how much the lesson was worth for you and donate that amount. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the CDC Foundation, which funds medical supplies, increases lab capacity, deploys emergency staffing to US public health agencies, and much more. We believe deeply in doing our part to help in the ways we can with this unprecedented pandemic. Our Teachers

Our team of teachers consists of extraordinarily talented high school and college musicians, many of whom are pursuing a career in music. Although our founding base is in Palo Alto, our teachers are located in many different places all over the country. Our team has expertise in many different areas of music as well as instruments, including music theory, songwriting, piano, guitar, bass, pop and classical vocals, violin, and more! Julia Segal, Founder

Hi! I'm Julia Segal, the founder of QuaranTunes. I am a 16-year-old singer/songwriter based in Palo Alto, California (reveriebandofficial.com). Music is my entire life, and when I was suddenly faced with the prospect of months of free time where I could do almost anything I wanted (from the confines of my home, of course) I was initially overwhelmed by the countless possibilities of things I could do and projects I could take on. There was one thing I knew for sure though - I wanted to incorporate my passion for music. Sure enough, after a day of pitching the idea to all the musicians I knew, my heart was set on QuaranTunes. I am so excited to begin this journey, and I hope you will join me by clicking the "Sign Up" button above!

My Promise Project

Music and art are empowering tools for self-expression and activism. In this free series of workshops, renowned pianist and arts activist Lara Downes uses Freedom and Protest songs as inspiration for students to create their own artistic statements of leadership and activism. These workshops challenge and engage young people as they envision futures built on awareness, intention, and action.

SolNote is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Dallas, Texas that has chapters in Dallas, Nashville, Oklahoma, NYC, LA, Chicago, and more and is set to create opportunities for underprivileged kids to receive hands-on lessons and training within the world of music. The goal is to create a friendly environment of young adults helping kids grow through music. Music education is very important in today's society, allowing kids to evolve relationships and individualism, through a healthy setting in which they can develop skills musically and emotionally. SolNote wants to help kids find the music inside of them.

SolNote recently created a music activity book that features introductions to various instruments for beginners and fun activities for them to do while in quarantine. Students can receive access to the full book after their first QuaranTunes lesson. Here is a quick preview of the book.
